Kseniya Kim

Social Media Chair

Born in Uzbekistan, Kseniya Kim is of Russian and Korean heritage and came to America when she was three. Currently a senior at the University of Cincinnati, she is on an academic path dual majoring in Cybersecurity and IT - Networking/Systems. She plans on pursuing her Master's in Cybersecurity, with aspirations of a second Bachelor's/Master's combination in Cloud Computing or Data Science following that.

 

Kseniya holds the CompTIA Security+ certificate and is currently studying for the CompTIA Network+ exam.

 

She has already begun making her mark in the industry as an IT Security and Infrastructure Co-Op.

In this role, she takes on a myriad of responsibilities, such as monitoring all company emails for malicious activity, demonstrating an astute understanding of threat mitigation. She also designs and implements phishing campaigns with the end goal of enhancing end-user education. Kseniya also reviews end-user program authorization requests, assessing environmental risks based on the nature of the request.

 

Kseniya has proficiency in administering tools such as Microsoft Azure, Microsoft Defender,Microsoft Intune, Cloudflare, Autoelevate, Okta, Atlassian Jira/Confluence, and BlueVoyant, all neatly orchestrated within the NIST framework.

 

Beyond her academic and professional pursuits, Kseniya is a passionate advocate for the technology and cybersecurity community. She is an active member of various groups, including Cyber @ UC, WiCyS, WiCyS @ UC, and Women in Technology @ UC. She finds great fulfillment in contributing her skills and knowledge by volunteering. Some of her volunteering experiences include partnering with WiCyS @ UC in guiding Girl Scouts through cybersecurity simulations, mentoring high schoolers on future careers and Co-Op responsibilities, and partaking in the Ohio Cyber Range Institute Cyber Symposium.
